Saona Island: the unforgettable excursion, everything you need to know
We tell you everything you need to know about the Saona Island tour, places to visit on the island, tour companies and more

Saona Island is a small island that is part of the La Romana province. It is located in the Caribbean Sea and it has been visited by many tourists throughout the years. One of its most famous attractions is its natural pool, which is formed by an underground river that flows from one side to another.
The main attraction on this island is definitely the natural pool that surrounds it! Its waters are crystal clear and refreshingly cool at all times of the year, even during summer months when temperatures can reach over 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit). The natural pool also contains much colorful fish and other animals such as sea turtles and rays that swim around freely within its waters.

Natural Pool
On the road to Isla Saona and the town of Mano Juan on the same island, you should undoubtedly stop at the natural pool, which is located on the borders of the Cotubanamá National Park and is regarded as a stunning location by the hundreds of visitors who have visited it. Without a doubt, every journey to the Dominican Republic must include a stop at the Parque Nacional del Este, a protected natural park. This location is a heaven on earth that you must see at least once in your life because of its crystal blue seas, the beauty of untouched nature, infinite beaches, and the natural pool.
Leaving the port of Bayahibe, on the way to Isla Saona by boat, a stop is made at the natural pool of Palmilla beach, about 200 or 300 meters from the beach line, with the water knee-deep or waist-deep, enjoy the perfect scenery and weather. Bathers have around 800 meters parallel to the beach to enjoy, between the white sand and the enormous coral terrace that separates the natural pool from the open sea and that makes this geological wonder possible.
The entire coastline to the south, up to the Catuano Channel (the narrow arm of the sea that separates the mainland from the province of La Altagracia from Saona Island), is a long shore of clear waters and natural pools to discover.
